Kim Skarns graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in English Education and a Master of Arts in English-Generalist, both summa cum laude. While at IUP, she participated in an urban teaching seminar in Philadelphia and studied Shakespeare abroad in Oxford, UK—she loves to travel! Ms. Skarns is originally from Pittsburgh, but Colorado has been her home for five years now.

At Pikes Peak Prep, she wears many hats! Ms. Skarns is the assistant principal, concurrent enrollment advisor, high school English teacher, and a TAP mentor. In addition, she has advised Student Council for the four years she has taught at PPP. She is also an adjunct English instructor at Pikes Peak Community College.

Ms. Skarns believes in her students' abilities to grow into people who think freely and critically about the world around them. She is confident that the road they are on at Pikes Peak Prep will provide them with the tools they will need for college and beyond.

When at home, she enjoys reading, hiking, being the singer for Rock Band tours, eating, and spending time with her best friend and love, Justin, and her two dogs, Karma and Kismet.
