REPORTS TO/TERM:

Principal and Administrative Team
This is a 10-month position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICIATIONS:

  • 18 hours of coursework from a regionally accredited institution in one or more of the following areas: computer science, computer information systems, technology applications, digital communication/multimedia, math, science, engineering or digital communication/multimedia graphics or directly related occupational experience. (degree not required)
  • Successful experience working with middle and high school students
  • Candidate selected will have the passion, experience and technical expertise to teach classes including but not limited to: Computer Science Applications and 3D Animation and Game Design
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution desired but not required
  • A teaching or CTE credential is desired but not required
  • Must have a working knowledge and be able to teach the following applications: Microsoft Office, Prezi, Google Suite of Cloud bases applications, Adobe, Flash, Blender and video editing programs such as Windows Moviemaker and Movie Masher • Demonstrated volunteer or community service
  • Prefer experience or familiarity in one or more of the following areas:
    • National Board Certification
    • TAP Experience
    • Core Knowledge Experience
    • Experience with Blended Learning
    • At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

A Secondary Computer Technology teacher is required to perform the following duties:

  • Supervising and assisting a group of students with on-line independent studies
  • Create an inviting, exciting, innovative and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Develop and implement ambitious, rigorous, and standards-aligned lesson plans targeted with end goal of student performance at or above grade level expectations
  • Provide an inviting, exciting, inclusive and joyful learning experience
  • Embrace planning for and teaching a diverse classroom of students with a wide variety of learning styles, needs and behaviors
  • Analyze student data and action plan accordingly in collaboration with staff and leadership
  • Be willing to work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom
  • Attend all grade level and staff meetings and attend designated school functions outside of school hours
  • Follow the school’s policies and procedures for student conduct, discipline and social-emotional development
  • Cooperate with all employees: administrators, teachers, instructional assistants, parents and community members in the endeavor to educate Pikes Peak Prep Academy students in keeping with our vision and mission
  • Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff
  • Possibly helping to design a technology education program sequence for grades K-6
  • Perform necessary duties including but not limited to morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school duties
  • Preforms other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the principal
  • Dress professionally

Salary Range $28,000 - $40,000 per year + benefits depending on experience

HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHER

REPORTS TO/TERM:

REQUIRED QUALIFICIATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in content area
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License for Grades 9-12
  • Highly Qualified as defined by NCLB (at least 24 semester hours of English or passed the Colorado PLACE exam in English/Language Arts
  • Ability to understand and apply formative assessment to drive instruction and re-teaching
  • Seeking candidates experienced in any of the following: curriculum development, creative writing, journalism, social media writing, technology education, technical writing, interdisciplinary curriculum, speech and debate, and/or drama
  • Successful experience teaching diverse groups of middle school and/or high school students, preferably in an urban environment
  • Belief that all children are gifted in some way and commitment to helping every child develop his/her talents
  • Excellent communication skills to include clear and timely communication of standards, achievements and areas of growth to students, parents and administrator
  • Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom
  • Demonstrated volunteer or community service
  • Prefer experience or familiarity in one or more of the following areas:
    • National Board Certification
    • TAP Experience
    • Core Knowledge Experience
    • Experience with Blended Learning
    • At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment

A high school teacher is required to perform the following duties:

  • Plan and implement a blended learning environment in their subject area, based on state standards
  • Participation in all TAP training and implementation meetings
  • Create an inviting, exciting, innovative and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments
  • Communicate regularly with parents
  • Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences
  • Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom
  • Attend all grade level and staff meetings and designated school functions outside of school hours
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsible
  • Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff
  • Collegiality, teamwork and Professional Learning Communities participation and willingness to share his/her many areas of expertise with peers
  • Perform duties including but not limited to morning, lunch, dismissal, and after-school duties
  • Performs other duties, as deemed appropriate, by the principal
  • Dress professionally and uphold all school policies
