Hands On Chemistry Tests
In Ms. Duran’s Chemistry class, students were using their newly acquired knowledge about Density, Buoyancy and the Gas Laws. Students tested Charles’ Law which states as the temperature of a gas increases, so will the volume and vice versa. They put some balloons to the test by determining the volume before and after being placed in a hot water bath or ice water bath. They also were given a set of regular and irregular objects where they were required to predict whether the item would sink or float. They tested it then calculated the density of the objects to help further explain why the object either sank or floated. The lab activity was a great opportunity for students to have to think outside the box.
